Signs and Symptoms of Depression

Depression, experts say, is a modern day plague and something that shouldn’t be ignored.

Here I will briefly list out some of the signs and symptoms of depression.

3 Types of Depression

Generally speaking there are 3 types of clinical depression.

  1. Mild – can interfere with your daily life
  2. Moderate – has more of a significant impact on your life
  3. Severe – almost impossible to get through daily life

Signs of Depression

It is unlikely you will be experiencing all of these

  • Lack of motivation
  • Fatigue, especially in the mornings
  • Thinking everything is pointless
  • Cannot see a future for yourself
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Thoughts of death or suicide
  • Cannot find enjoyment or fun in anything
  • Withdrawal from social circles – including family
  • Intolerance of other people, overly aggressive
  • Increased feelings of anxiety
  • Self-confidence disappears
  • Worrying more about illnesses, hypochondria
  • Feeling worthless
  • Changes in sleeping patterns, including nightmares

Physical Symptoms

  • Weight loss
  • Unexplained aches or pains
  • Stomach upsets
  • Changes in your menstrual cycle
  • Lack of energy
  • Constipation
  • Loss of libido
