Here I will briefly layout the 3 main types of stress and the signs and symptoms associated when stress goes beyond that healthy line.

The 3 main Types of Stress

  1. Episodic Stress – this is when stress comes and goes
  2. Acute Stress – usually short term, but stronger than episodic
  3. Chronic Stress – when we cannot see an end to what we are experiencing or a way out, difficult to cope. Can also be caused by numerous bouts of acute or episodic stress

Signs of Stress

There are many signs you maybe suffering from stress. Here are some to give you an indication.

  • Impatience, irritability or aggressiveness
  • Lack of sleep
  • Withdrawal from usual activities, apathy
  • Excessive smoking, drinking or use of drugs
  • Binge watching TV or large amounts of time online (when this isn’t a normal behavior)
  • Loss of libido
  • Fatigue
  • Headaches, migraines
  • Feeling sick, dizziness, ringing in ears
  • High blood pressure

Symptoms of Stress

Longterm stress can lead to many physical diseases and more severe mental illness.

  • Heart disease
  • Stroke
  • Stomach ulcers
  • IBS
  • Constipation
  • Skin irritations
  • Some cancers (research suggests)
  • Depression
